Georgetown SC

We are docked in Georgetown SC at Harborwalk Marina in the heart of downtown Georgetown. Fortunately it is in a very protected cove sheltered from the wind because it is still blowing like a son of a gun out there…. At times traveling up the ICW yesterday the wind was howling through our flying bridge so strongly it was making tons of noise.  Other than that, we had a nice trip and it was only 4 and a half hours - yay!

The scenery along the way was more sweet grass, some huge, beautiful houses and lots of dolphins. Lots of boat traffic too, although not locals.  We were passed by at least 8 other boats that were faster then us, although that’s not saying much since all we could pass might be a sailboat under power…

When we got settled, we set out for the mile walk to Piggly Wiggly for groceries and ate lunch along the way.  Side note - we bought so much and things were so heavy, we called the only local taxi in town for a ride back to the marina.  What a hoot that was….The downtown here is so cute - I can’t wait to explore tomorrow.  We connected with loopers from 3 other boats, so we had docktails on the dock and had good conversation.  Most of them are leaving tomorrow, but we will probably run into them up the line. One of the gals we met is 81 and traveling with her brother and brother-in-law. She listened to the conversations and then observed that while we were all contemplating whether or not to make a 2nd loop, she just hoped to live long enough to finish the first one.  Food for thought… I know that I am so fortunate to be having this adventure and need to take every minute in and savor it.
