Moore Haven

Today we left Ft. Myers and started our trek across the Okeechobee waterway. It was a day filled with bridges, locks and boat traffic and we ended our journey in Moore Haven FL at the rustic Riverhouse Marina right on the waterway. It was another place that calls itself a marina but is a long floating dock with electricity.  The docks are brand new and the WiFi wasn’t bad, either, so it worked for one night. Madison was a happy girl because the walk to go potty was so short!

About the time we were getting ready to grill hamburgers at the outdoor grill in the cute picnic pavilion beside the boat, the skies opened up and we had torrential rains for the next few hours.  Washed most of the bugs off the boat for sure! Needless to say, we cooked our burgers inside the boat and tried to console Madison who is terrified of rainstorms.  She can hear distant thunder even when we can’t!

On one of Toms trips out with Madison he met the folks who pulled in behind us on the dock in a much larger version of our boat.  They turned out to be the nicest couple ever from Stuart FL and invited us over for docktails after dinner. Steve and Julie stayed on our boat and we all hit the beds pretty early to get ready for a long day tomorrow.
