Baltimore fun

We arrived at the inner harbor of Baltimore early Thursday afternoon, got settled and walked to Dan's house with Madison.  From there we went to get some lunch with Dan, Andrea and Claire then went to pick Charlotte up from school.  She didn't know we would be there, so it was a good surprise! Andrea made a yummy dinner and we celebrated a late Mother's Day and an early Father's Day.  When you move around like we do you have to have those celebrations when you can...

Friday morning was spent getting the boat ready for the holiday weekend trip to Rock Hall on the eastern shore of MD, provisioning and loading everyone's "stuff" onto the boat.  We had planned to leave Baltimore around 3 pm, but the weather was quickly deteriorating and we moved it up to noon.  Even with that, we didn't make it...  After an hour of getting out of Baltimore and almost into the Chesapeake Bay, visibility dropped dramatically and winds picked up, so we did the smart thing and turned back.  😞

We had 2 disappointed little girls, but we walked to dinner in Fells Point, popped popcorn and watched movies on the boat before all going to sleep on board.  We set the alarm for early Saturday morning and took advantage of a small window to cross the bay to Rock Hall, although I would be lying if I said it was a smooth, pleasant crossing.  Yikes!  The boat handled the huge swells and waves like a champ - the girls and women did not...  I am happy to say there was no actual throwing up, but plenty of rolling tummies.

It is cold and rainy here and generally miserable weather, but we are making the best of it and yesterday put on rain coats and walked to lunch and browsed the cute shops downtown before spending a cozy night on the boat. Today is more of the same, but we walked to a darling place for breakfast and Dan and Andrea bundled the girls up and let them play on the playground.  Why is it that kids don't seem to mind the cold like adults do??

Dinner will be on the boat tonight and we will head back to Baltimore tomorrow.  Go figure - it is supposed to be sunny and 75 degrees!

The weather is so weird. Good to be with family even though the weather didn’t cooperate. It seems like weather is always a crapshoot on Memorial weekend. So fun to read your updates!
