New Baltimore NY

It was an early morning, but we had a gorgeous, traffic free trip up the Hudson to Shady Harbor Marina here in New Baltimore NY. Huge vacation homes continue to line the steep banks of the river and quaint small towns dotted the shore. There are old lighthouses in the river as you cruise north that look like houses from Mary Poppins or some other Disney movie.  I have included picture of a couple of them. We picked up big wind about half way here which made docking pretty interesting, but we haven't hit a darn thing yet... 😂

Wes and Leanne helped us lower our arch on top of the boat, flatten antennas and remove canvas to prepare for the low bridges we will encounter on the Erie canal.  Thankfully, our boat has that capability - some folks can't do the Erie and Canada is not open yet, so they are deciding what to do. We pumped up fenders in preparation for locks and I did one load of laundry.

At last count there are 12 Looper boats here and there was an impromptu gathering at the restaurant here about 6 pm.  We met many new people and I counted 20 folks at the table.  This looper social life is exhausting - LOL!  The marina owner gave everyone complimentary shots of 43 topped with cream made to look like Little Beers.  It was actually quite yummy - tasted like a milkshake.

Off to Waterford NY tomorrow morning where we get ready to start our trek thru the Erie canal.
