Made A Move

After waking up this morning again partially grounded and unable to get off the boat, we made a decision to move to the marina next door where our new friends are docked and see if we can improve our conditions. Honestly, we were so frustrated we could scream! So, I settled up with the marina around noon once I could climb out of the boat and we had some water under us, and we moved down the river to the next marina.

We needed a pump-out and the pump wasn’t working at are marina ( of course…) so we pulled up to the fuel dock to get that done before going to a new slip.  OMG - it was like threading a needle to squeeze into the space on the fuel dock and thankfully we didn’t hit anything.  And - guess what?!?! They couldn’t get the pump out to work!  Really, I thought I was going to hit somebody.  Long story short, the marina guy worked for AN HOUR to get it to work and we had to move the boat around the corner on the dock.  But - shitter’s empty!!

Then we proceeded down the row to our new slip and it was the most god-awful spot we’ve been in. We were next to a permanent houseboat with a nice floating dock that we couldn’t reach to exit the boat and were told we couldn’t use.  After over an hour of maneuvering we were tied up and we found a 2x6 on the private dock which we used to form a bridge off our boat.  Of course Madison was too freaked out to use it and I wasn’t crazy about it either, but at least I could get off the boat to do some laundry.

Our new friends, Kim and Bob came over after dinner for some wine and chatting and we decided that the 4 couples staying at this marina would leave together at 6 am for the short gulf crossing to Steinhatchee.  Two of the boats moved an hour out of the river to anchor overnight and we’ll join up with them in the morning.  I hope I can sleep tonight - I just want this crossing done…
