Gulf Crossing

We are across the gulf and I’ll never have to do it again!  LOL! We got up at 5 am, left in the dark and motored down the river out to the bay for an hour before meeting our friends on the other boats who were anchored at Dog Island. The sun came up just as we were entering the gulf and we couldn’t have asked for a better travel day.  The waves were 1-3 ft, so we had a fair amount of “rolling”, but nothing dangerous or scary.  We saw several pods of dolphins and 2 of the boats saw 2 huge sea turtles.  What I wouldn’t have given to have seen those….

We arrived in Steinhatchee about 4 pm and all 4 boats are tied up at the long dock at the edge of the marina.  There is no power here yet, as they are just remodeling the marina, but the docks are beautiful floating docks, which means we, as well as Madison, can get on and off the boat easily. There is a huge store here so we gals all did some shopping and Tom even bought a t-shirt.  The pelicans are lined up on the docks waiting for the fish scraps from the fishermen and there are several marina cats around.

All 8 of us walked to the next marina for dinner and to plan for tomorrow.  It’s supposed to be another great day out on the gulf, so we plan to leave here around 7 am and go to Cedar Key and anchor out. We may have to be there for a couple of days to wait for good weather again, but at least we are all together and safe.

Best part of my day - leaving god-forsaken Carrabelle for good!
